Program Information

-All students in 4th and 5th grade are eligible to participate.

-Students can choose one instrument to take lessons on in either band or orchestra.

-The program runs for the full school year, so please have an instrument available for the school year.

-All lessons are free!!  You simply need a good working instrument to use for the whole school year, and the lesson book. A music stand for home is highly recommended. . 

-Students are pulled out for lessons once a week, for a small group lesson.

-Later in the year, they will be pulled for an additional "ensemble" rehearsal, where they all play together as a band to get ready for their spring concert.  This rehearsal is usually done very close to the end of the school day.  

-Students are encouraged to practice at least 3 times a week for 10-15 (to start), longer or more days as they progress and get older

-There will be a spring concert combined with the orchestra and vocal concert, usually some time in May.

-Playing in the band or orchestra is an amazing experience for students.  They learn how to work as a team, create music, and make many friends moving forward to Middle School and High School.  

-Any student participating needs a working instrument and the proper method book to attend class. (please see the rental tab). Purchasing a music stand to keep at home for practicing is highly recommended as well (also can be bought at the time of renting an instrument on the Cole's website).
